— As RVSG Flood Management Taskforce Extends Food Palliatives To Flood Victims In Emohua LGA
As the Rivers State government continue to receive commendations for its quick response to flood disaster in parts of the state, the chairman of Emohua local government area, Dr Chidi Lloyd has described the state governor, H.E Nyesom Wike as a responsive and responsible leader who cares about the welfare of the people.
Dr Lloyd while noting the assiduity with which the governor constituted the state flood management task force to cushion the effect of the natural disaster in parts of the state, said he was not surprised with the commendable performance of the state task force because of the array of personalities in the task force, describing it as an assemblage of seasoned personalities.
The council chairman stated this while receiving food palliatives made available for displaced flood victims in parts of Emohua LGA by the Rivers State government flood management taskforce in PortHarcourt on Saturday.
He commended the state flood management task force for accommodating the Emohua local government area in the distribution of food palliatives and other humanitarian aid a few days often their visit to flood-impacted communities in the area.
The Emolga council Boss who later conveyed the food palliatives to the IDP camps in the flood-ravaged Imogu community in Rumuekpe and Agba community in Rundele, all in Emohua LGA, said the people of the area can not thank the state governor enough for his show of compassion and responsive leadership.
Earlier, the chairman of the Rivers State flood management taskforce, Dr George Nweke said Emohua and Akuku-Toru LGAs were accommodated in the distribution of food palliatives and other relief materials following the approval of Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, after the task force presented the report of their visit to flood-impacted communities in the two LGAs.
He described the immediate inclusion of the two LGAs as a show of compassion by the governor, as the two LGAs were not originally amongst the flood-impacted areas when the task force was set up by the state government.
Dr Lloyd was accompanied by the vice chairman of Emohua LGA, Hon Mrs Edna Nyeche, the chairman of the People’s Democratic Party PDP in Emohua LGA, Hon Uche Minikwu and principal officers of the local government council.
